Masthead Research

The reason why i think this is a great masthead for my magazine is because it has the perfect theme of the urban city which relates to the grime scene and the letters are all upper case letters which could appeal to the audience and is very bold and easy to remember.

This masthead is similar to the other one however i think i could modify this to make it fit in with the grime scene as the text is dotted which gives more of a disco theme which ruins the fact of the houses and the city life so i will modify the text in photoshop i will use a brush and remove all the white dots and add my own text with a grundge over lay.

This Masthead fits in with the name of the magazine, as my magazine is called 'Blur' and this fits in really well as it looks pretty blurred which makes it match with the name of the magazine 'Blur'.

The Reason why i picked grime to be my sub genre.

• Original as no other magazine are specific about it.
• Becoming Main Stream which makes it a good time to creat this magazine.
• There is a gap in the market which could be sealed.
• Could be the first magazine to be specificlly about grime and other things to do with grime

Question 3:
The sub genre of the music magazine i would like to produce would be grime.
i have researched and i have found out that there is no specific magazine that focuses on grime this would be a gap in the market and will turn out to be very successful, however 'RWD' has come things to do with grime but it is not specific. As we all know the grime industry is getting alot bigger in the UK it is becoming more mainstream than ever.
grime has to do with movies not only music as alot of rappers and people that are kown in the grime industry are gettin involved in the movies which attracts a bigger audience. This will give the magazine an oppertunity to be advertised on those movies and movie trailers it could even get more teens to read it will give them a wider view of the grime industry.

i can forsee that there will be alot of problems in creating a new magazine in the UK market because it is gettin really expensive to launch a magazine as there is alot of magazines out there and to stop people from making alot of magazines they made it very expensive this will make it so only big companies are capable of producing a magazine, this is  an advantage for them as it will decrease the options for cutsomers which will lead customers in buying their magazine.
It is extremely hard to creat a successful magazine as the music industry for magazines is so big that it makes it hard to find a gap in the market and the key to a successful magazine is originality, originality will atract attention to your magazine and make it successful.

Question 1:
The Music Magazine industry seems to be going downhill as most magazines are below minus in their change.
It shows that the magazine with the most change is 'Kerrang!' followed by 'NME' and 'Q' the reason i think the sales have decreased is because of the technology most magazines woud be available to view on the web and will also be available as mobile applications, this makes it alot easier for customers to access which caused sales to go down.
